Services Offered

Since 1991, our innovative, sustainable, and creative approach has resulted in award-winning work throughout Northern California and beyond. We have extensive experience with not only San Francisco’s rigorous building review process but also numerous approval agencies in Sonoma County, the East Bay, and on the Peninsula. Whether we are working with new clients or repeat clients with new projects, we are passionate about architectural design that fulfills their hopes and exceeds their expectations. Our design process, from establishing goals and desires to articulating and crafting solutions, for both renovation and new construction, is comprehensive, nuanced, and collaborative.

Our firm’s design philosophy is rooted in the Bay Region Tradition – site specific, unaffected in style, with strong interior/exterior connections. The play of natural light is of paramount importance in our work, as are the unique challenges of urban infill, adaptive reuse, and green building strategies. Whether we begin with bare land or an existing structure, our projects develop their character through careful interpretation and sensitivity to each client’s program, orientation, context, and climate. We bring warmth to modern design.

Malcolm Davis is a Bay Area native with an intimate understanding of its regional building styles and climates. Educated at UC Berkeley, his strong appreciation of the craft of building goes hand in hand with thoughtful stewardship of resources. He takes pride in creative problem solving through simple, elegant solutions. Employing a timeless vocabulary and a restrained palette, Malcolm’s projects over the last 25 years have earned multiple awards from the American Institute of Architects and publication in Dezeen, Dwell, Arch Daily, Elle Decor, Architizer, Sunset Magazine, California Home & Design, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
